I approach each and every one of my patients knowing that everyone has a unique, fascinating, and often complicated story to tell. It is impossible to provide a “one size fits all” treatment without factoring in each of my patients’ very own goals, beliefs, and values into their individual plan.
I feel that we can arrive at the best prenatal journey by mixing your birth plan with my expertise and experience with the ultimate goal of providing the safest and best birth experience for both mom and baby.
I am a strong believer that the best medicine starts with stress reduction, a healthy lifestyle, and strong family and social ties. Regular preventive care and screenings are next, followed by expert medical and surgical course correction when needed.
Owing to his early interest in emerging technologies and computers, Dr. Bhavsar earned his bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from Texas A&M University. There he earned a military scholarship and was commissioned as an officer into the US Army and went on to purse an M.D. from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed an internship and residency in Family Medicine at Womack Army Medical Center, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and additional residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii.
Dr. Bhavsar spent 21 years as an Army Physician and Surgeon which including two overseas tours and four combat deployments to the Middle East. He served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chief of Surgery at Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia. After retiring from Fort Benning, Dr. Bhavsar continued in a variety of leadership and teaching roles including the medical director of an Obstetrics Emergency Department and OBGYN Residency Faculty where he helped teach and train the next generation of doctors in complex Obstetrics and pelvic surgery.
Throughout his career, he has sought out emerging technologies and how they can be best leveraged to help his patients. He was the first OBGYN resident from Tripler Army Medical Center’s program to graduate with full robotic surgery privileges, the first surgeon at Darnall Army Medical Center to perform robotic tubal reversal surgery and single port surgery.
Currently he continues on the leading edge, as one of the few surgeons in the area to offer newer ablation technologies to treat fibroids such as Accessa, as an alternative to more invasive surgical approaches. He is currently in the process of introducing newer modalities to treat chronic pain in pregnancy, such as migraines with non-medical approaches.
Dr. Bhavsar’s background as a family physician and two decades as an Army doctor afforded him the opportunity to maintain the health and manage the pregnancies and recovery of some of our most elite Americans with some of the most demanding lifestyles. Here he developed an appreciation for the power of exercise, diet and stress reduction as the best medicine and continues to apply this in his personal life as a life-long endurance athlete, having completed over two dozen marathons, numerous Ironman and half-Ironman triathlons, ultra-trail races including one 100 mile Ultra trail run.
